SDG Reports

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all UN member states in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for achieving equitable and sustainable development across the globe. In view of the escalating challenges faced by countries in implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), which have intensified due to financial, climatic and other shocks, including COVID-19 as well as the decline in development aid budgets and flows, members of the Executive Committee are tracking progress in meeting the 17 SDGs, with a particular focus on Commonwealth countries.

Starting July 2025, the ExCo has started preparing and sharing periodic reports to keep members abreast of these developments. The first report provided an overview of the implementation of the 17 SDGs, and the second report focused on SDG 1: Poverty. The emerging picture is that while a few Commonwealth countries have made progress towards SDG targets, the overall picture is mixed and there is regression.  The reports have been well received and further reports will be issued in due course.
