A special day for Tessa Sanderson CBE and the Commonwealth Association
Olympic and Commonwealth champion gives 4th Patsy Robertson Memorial Lecture
For four years the Commonwealth Association has been organising a lecture in memory of its founding chair, Patsy Robertson, who died in 2020. The latest lecture, organised in association with the Commonwealth Youth Programme, was given by Tessa Sanderson CBE, the outstanding Olympic and Commonwealth champion, who spoke to an enthusiastic audience at Marlborough House on 14 October on the theme Sport, development and the Commonwealth.
Tessa was introduced by the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Baroness Scotland, who described the athlete as one of her sports heroines. Other speakers included Helen Phillips, the President of Commonwealth Games Wales and Chair of the Commonwealth Games Federation’s European Group and Dr Lin Sambili, Adviser, Sport for Development and Peace at the Commonwealth Secretariat.
Tessa’s lecture can be read here and the pictures to accompany it are available here
